What Is Vibration Analysis?

Vibration analysis is a predictive maintenance technique used to assess the health of rotating machines. Wear, imbalance, and bearing failures in motors, pumps, and compressors are detected early through vibration measurements.

How Does Vibration Analysis Work?

Vibration sensors (accelerometers) measure the horizontal, vertical, and axial vibrations of machines. The collected data is subjected to frequency analysis (FFT - Fast Fourier Transform) to identify characteristic frequencies. Each fault type (bearing damage, imbalance, looseness, misalignment) has its own unique frequency signature. Trend analysis tracks the progression of the fault.

Where Is Vibration Analysis Used?

Electric motors and pumps
Fan and blower systems
Compressors
Gearboxes
Conveyor systems
Turbines and generators

What Are the Advantages of Vibration Analysis?

Unplanned downtime prevention
Maintenance cost reduction
Extended equipment lifespan
Root cause failure analysis
Safety improvement
